We were great statisticians this week when we collected data about what colour cars go past NCS.  We are learning how to count using tally marks and transfer this information into a bar graph.

Fun Day Friday - Celebrating the Chinese New Year of the Goat (or Ram)

Today Room 9 were extremely lucky to be invited to watch Room 6 perform the Chinese New Year story.  We learned that this year is the Year of the Goat (or Ram).  Those of us turning 7 years old this year were born in the Year of the Rat, and the students who have turned 6 this year were born in the Year of the Ox.  These animals were the first two to animals to cross the river.  They were the cleverest and the strongest, so our class is pretty special!!

Check out how much fun was had when we transported ourselves to China.

Saturday is Mother Tongue Day

Say 'Hi!' to someone in their Mother Tongue tomorrow and "make their day!"

We celebrated our diverse culture in our Syndicate Wa Whanau this morning, and Mina and Ruzgar shared how they say 'Hello' in Turkish , their mother tongue - "Merhaba".  Jesse knows that people from Fiji say "Buller" when they want to say hello.

Pohutukawa Syndicate Assembly

Every week, on a Thursday afternoon, our Syndicate get together for an assembly or to enjoy some singing.

Today we had a visitor to our assembly - Roger from Body in Space Theatre Company.  A few of us were invited up the front to do some fun drama games.

Check out the first students to receive certificates - Ka Pai!!

Settling in to Room 9

Wow, we are almost at the end of the second week of term.  All students seem to have settled happily into life back at school.
